H.P. Smith Memorial Lecture

Thanks are due to our President, Ian Andrews, for so ably stepping in at the last moment to give this year’s interesting lecture which was thoroughly enjoyed by the membership. Thank you Ian.

Widows

It is hoped to be able to keep in closer contact with the widows of past members and, if possible, invite them to some of the Society’s events. If any members are aware of such widows, would they please pass on the necessary contact information to a member of the executive committee.

New Members

It is pleasing to report that we have again recruited new members and we warmly welcome Brian Bush from Wimborne and Tony Udall from Parkstone.

Charity

It was decided at the recent A.G.M. that the Society would support the Poole Hospital Wish List as its charity for the year 2007/8.

Open Day

The Society's annual Open Day was successfully held on Saturday 26th may where the newly elected Mayor of Poole, Councillor Jeff Allen was presented with honorary membership.

Upton Country Park

Upton Country park has now been designated as a Nature Reserve and a new appointment of Clare Freeman as Open Spaces Manager has been made.

Wessex Newfoundland Society

The annual dinner of the Wessex Newfoundland Society will be held at Amity Lodge in Poole on 30th June.

Civic Parade

Members attending the Civic Church Parade on Sunday 10th June as asked to assemble at the Blue Boar by 10.20am.

Executive Committee

The next meeting of the Executive Committee will be held at Oakdale South Road Middle School on 12th June at 7.30pm. All members are welcome to attend.

Cover Picture

The picture on the cover of the April 2007 Newsletter has now been dated as 14th July 1984. On that occasion John valentine was the Foreman, whilst John Barham was the flag carrier.
